Bundesliga facts - April 10-12

Others

Hamburger SV - VfL Wolfsburg

HSV haven't won any of their last seven home games against the Wolves (D4, L3). Their last home win against VfL was eight years ago - they won 1-0 in early April 2007 thanks to a goal from Mehdi Mahdavikia.

Hamburg have only collected two points from their last seven games. Their last win came on matchday 20 (2-1 against Hannover 96).

With 57 points from 27 games, Wolfsburg are having their best ever season in the Bundesliga - they even had three points fewer at this stage of their 2008/09 title-winning campaign.

With 23 points and a +14 goal difference, Wolfsburg are top in a table representing only matches since the winter break.

Only the 1965/66 Tasmania Berlin side have scored fewer goals after 27 games (11) than HSV this season (16). Hamburg have failed to score in 16 games in 2014/15 and once again only Tasmania have had a worse record at this at this stage of a season (18 games in 65/66).

Hamburg have only won one of their last 17 BL games (D6, L10) - the 2-1 victory against Hannover in early February. Wolfsburg have won nine of their last 10 Saturday evening fixtures in the top flight (1 defeat).

With 17 assists to his name, Kevin De Bruyne has set up the most goals in Europe's top five leagues (as of 06.04.2015). He needs one more to equal Zvjezdan Misimovic's BL record (also for VfL Wolfsburg, set in 2008/09).

Ivica Olic has failed to find the net in 873 minutes in the BL - the new HSV signing's last goal came while he was still at Wolfsburg, in their 3-2 defeat away to Schalke in November. He scored against Hamburg in VfL's 2-0 win in the meeting earlier this season.

Peter Knäbel's 4-0 defeat in Leverkusen was the heaviest ever loss for a HSV manager on his debut. Only Holger Hieronymus has also lost his first game by the same margin (against Bremen in autumn 2001). The only HSV manager to have lost his opening two matches was Kuno Klötzer in 1973.

The game in Hamburg will be Dieter Hecking's 100th competitive match in the Wolfsburg dugout. HSV's Ivo Ilicevic may also make his 100th BL appearance in the meeting with VfL.

1. FC Köln - TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

After TSG won their first three BL games against Köln, they have failed to record a victory in any of their last six meetings with the Billy Goats (D3, L3).

The score was already 3-3 at half time in Köln's 4-3 win in the meeting earlier this season. It was the first time since January 2010 that six first-half goals had been scored in a BL game.

Köln have won just one of their last nine BL matches (D5, L3) - a 4-2 victory against Frankfurt on matchday 24.

The Billy Goats are unbeaten in their last six top-flight outings at home (W1, D5), something they last did around four years ago (8 games between November 2010 and April 2011).

With just 13 points collected from 13 home games, the Billy Goats are the second-worst home team in the league (Stuttgart: 9 points) and have equalled their negative club record from 2008/09 - back then, a promoted Köln side ended the campaign safely in 12th.

Hoffenheim haven't won any of their last five BL away games (D2, L3) and have recorded just one victory in their last 11 (D4, L6) - a 5-0 victory away to Hertha on matchday 17.

Only the top five sides in the league have conceded fewer goals than Köln (33) - only HSV (16) and Paderborn (23) have scored fewer goals than the Rhineland club though (26).

Stöger's side have played out seven 0-0 draws in this campaign, already equalling a BL season record. Five of those seven stalemates have taken place in Cologne.

Pawel Olkowski scored two long-range goals and assisted Ujah's strike to make it 3-1 in the meeting earlier this season. They remain the only goals in the Pole's BL career and three of his four scorer-points (goals + assists) in the top flight came in that match.

Slawomir Peszko was shown his fifth yellow card of the season during the match in Freiburg and is suspended against Hoffenheim. The Pole had started each of the last six BL games.

Tobias Strobl was on loan at then second-tier Köln in the 2012/13 campaign. The defender made 21 league appearances for the Billy Goats, but failed to gain promotion back to the top flight with the Rhineland club and returned to Hoffenheim.

Borussia Mönchengladbach - Borussia Dortmund

Historically speaking, this fixture is almost completely even in the Bundesliga: The teams have met 85 times in the top flight with Dortmund winning 29 times, Mönchengladbach 28 and the remaining 28 games ending in a draw.

BVB celebrated a 1-0 win in the meeting earlier this season (BVB had 21 shots compared to Gladbach's 1), ending a five-match losing streak in the BL. It was Gladbach's first defeat of the season in all competitions in what was their 19th competitive game.

Dortmund are without a win in four away matches in Gladbach (D2, L2). In fact, BVB have only won one of their last eight matches away to the Foals - a 1-0 victory on 3rd October 2009 (goalscorer: Lucas Barrios, 38th minute).

Gladbach are unbeaten in seven games (W5, D2), which is currently the longest run in the league. Their last defeat came on matchday 20 against Schalke (1-0).

Favre's team have collected 23 points during the second half of the season - the most in the BL together with Wolfsburg. In the history of the BL (partially converted to the 3-points-per-win system), Gladbach have only ever picked up as many points in the first 10 games after the winter break once before (1973/74) - they have never accrued more.

BVB are unbeaten in their last five away games, collecting 11 of a possible 15 points (W3, D2).

Gladbach have won each of their last six home matches in the BL, keeping clean sheets in the last four (1-0 vs. Freiburg, 1-0 vs. Köln, 2-0 vs. Paderborn, 2-0 vs. Hannover)

Dortmund have failed to score in 11 BL matches this season - never before in their BL history have they failed to find the back of the net in as many of their first 27 games.

Christoph Kramer scored a bizarre own goal to hand Dortmund a 1-0 win in the meeting earlier this season. That's not possible this time as he is suspended.

Ex-Gladbach player Marco Reus has failed to score in each of his last four BL matches.

Patrick Herrmann scored goals nine and 10 for the season on matchday 27 in Sinsheim, already four more than he has ever managed in a BL campaign before. He is also Gladbach's leading goalscorer this season.

SC Paderborn 07 - FC Augsburg

The first ever Bundesliga meeting between these sides ended in a 3-0 win for Augsburg earlier this season. FCA have won three of their last four competitive games against SCP.

Paderborn failed to claim a victory against any of their seven upcoming opponents during the first half of the season (D4, L3). Augsburg, on the other hand, won five of the last seven matches before the winter break (also a 4-0 loss to Bayern and a 2-0 loss in Hannover).

The promoted side have lost five of their last six games (one draw), failing to score a single goal in the process. SCP are currently on a 551-minute goal drought (league-high at present), the longest run in Paderborn's short BL history.

Paderborn have scored just two goals in their last 11 league games and have failed to find the back of the net in 10 of them. Only two goals scored after 10 matches in the second half of the season is a new Bundesliga record low.

Augsburg are also having issues in attack and are without a goal in three games. Four straight matches without scoring would be a new club record in the top flight.

FCA have collected just one point from their last three games (0-0 draw with Schalke).

The Bavarian outfit have lost each of their last three away games and have also been beaten nine times on the road this season. 10 away defeats would be a joint club record, having only suffered as many losses on their travels in 2012/13.

SCP are without a win in their last seven home games (D3, L4) and are without a goal in 419 minutes at their own stadium. Their last victory on home soil came on 2nd November 2014 against Hertha (3-1).

FCA have been on the brink of their 150th BL goal for the last three games (currently 149).

Markus Weinzierl (until 2019) and Stefan Reuter (2020) have extended their contracts at FCA. Only six teams have won more BL games than Augsburg (35) since Weinzierl took the helm on 1st July 2012.

Andre Breitenreiter and Markus Weinzierl were at SpVgg Unterhaching together from July 2001 to January 2002. Weinzierl made just six competitive appearances in that time though.

VfB Stuttgart - SV Werder Bremen

Bremen are unbeaten in their last five matches against VfB (W2, D3). Werder last lost to Stuttgart in an away game on 13th April 2012 (4-1).

There have been 69 goals in the past 17 matches between these sides, an average of 4.1 goals per game.

The 3-1 win against Frankfurt on matchday 26 is Stuttgart's only victory in their last 11 Bundesliga matches. (D4, L6).

With just 23 points from 27 games, VfB are continuing to have the worst season in their BL history. Their tallies of just nine points and nine goals in 13 home matches are also record lows for the club.

Stuttgart have collected four points from their last two home matches. They only picked up five points in their previous 11 fixtures on home soil this season.

Bremen have only lost two of their last 11 BL games (W6, D3), both against the top two teams in the league (4-0 vs. league leaders FC Bayern and 5-3 vs. second-placed Wolfsburg).

SVW are currently unbeaten in four away games in the BL (W2, D2), their best run since March/April 2011. Their last away defeat came in the 4-1 loss to Gladbach on matchday 16.

Bremen have not won any of their last four BL matches against a last-placed side (D3, L1). Their last win against a team propping up the table came in September 2011 against Hamburger SV (2-0).

VfB have conceded the most goals from set pieces (18). Bremen are the league's most dangerous side from dead balls (19 goals scored).

Stuttgart's Martin Harnik played 17 times for Bremen in the BL between 2007 and 2009 (one goal). He has scored four goals in his last six BL games against Werder.

VfB's sporting director Robin Dutt was appointed Werder manager at the start of 2013/14. He was sacked after nine games without a win at the start of this season, with Bremen in 18th place. SVW are currently ninth under his successor Skripnik.

Hannover 96 - Hertha BSC

Hannover haven't lost any of their last five BL games against Hertha (W2, D3), although their two home matches in that timeframe have ended in 1-1 draws. Berlin's last victory over 96 came in January 2010 (3-0 in Hannover).

Tayfun Korkut's side won 2-0 in Berlin on matchday 11 earlier this season, putting them fourth in the table. Hannover have won just one of their 16 BL matches since (D6, L9).

96 have slipped down to 15th - their worst position at the end of a matchday in almost five years (also 15th in May 2010).

The Lower Saxony club haven't won any of their last 11 BL games (D5, L6) - the longest run in the league and also 96's longest winless streak since the 2009/10 season (13 successive games without a victory back then).

Berlin are unbeaten in their last five BL outings (W3, D2), their longest run since August/September 2011. The capital club have also celebrated back-to-back victories for the first time in over two years (December 2013).

Hertha have kept five clean sheets in eight games under Dardai, more than in their previous 19 games this season (3). Berlin have kept their opponents at bay in four of their last five matches.

Berlin have the best clear-cut-chance-conversion rate in the league (63.9%).

Dardai's points-per-game average of 1.75 is the best for a Hertha manager in the history of the Bundesliga.

Hertha's last 10 BL goals (since December 2014) have been scored by 10 different players.

Pal Dardai's heaviest BL defeat during his playing days came against upcoming opponents Hannover. The Hungarian lost 5-0 away with Hertha in the 2006/07 campaign.

Hannover haven't lost any of their 24 BL home games in which returnee Didier Ya Konan has scored (W21, D3).

1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bayer 04 Leverkusen

Mainz have only recorded more top-flight wins against Nürnberg (8) than they have against Leverkusen (7, the same as against Freiburg). FSV even lead the overall head-to-head record, with seven victories to Bayer 04's six (4 draws).

Leverkusen have averaged just 1.29 points per BL game against Mainz - their fourth-worst average against the sides they have played more than eight times in the top flight (Bayern, Uerdingen and Bremen are the teams Bayer 04 have a worse record against).

The 05ers are unbeaten in their last four games, recording three draws to go along with their 2-0 win in Augsburg. The meeting with Leverkusen will be Mainz's 300th Bundesliga game (W100, D85, L114 so far).

Bayer 04 have won each of their last five BL games without conceding a single goal - a new club record. A sixth straight top-flight clean sheet would be a first for the Rhineland club.

Mainz's stalemate in Bremen was already their 13th draw this season - a league high and a club record. The 05ers had 12 draws to their name at the end of 2011/12 and 2012/13.

Leverkusen have scored in 12 of their last 13 BL games - a 0-0 draw with Dortmund on matchday 18 is the exception. Bayer 04 have the third-best attack in the second half of the season (21 goals scored) after FCB (30) and Wolfsburg (27).

Only Dortmund (162) have taken more shots since the winter break than Mainz 05 (161, the same as Hoffenheim). However, only Bayern (471) and BVB (451) have produced more shots across the entire season than Leverkusen (443).

The match against HSV saw Gonzalo Castro equal Max Kruse's BL season record by having a hand in 14 shots (4 shots + 10 shot assists). It was the second time in his career that Castro was involved in three goals in one game (2 goals + 1 assist).

Stefan Kießling has moved onto 132 BL goals (338 games), putting him level in the all-time goalscoring charts with his sporting director Rudi Völler, who also netted 132 times in the German top flight (232 games).

Ja-Cheol Koo is set for his 100th BL game (11 goals). 32 of those appearances have come for Wolfsburg, 36 for Augsburg and 31 so far for Mainz. Meanwhile, Bayer 04's Emir Spahic could feature for a 50th time in the Bundesliga.

FC Bayern München - Eintracht Frankfurt

Bayern haven't lost any of their last seven meetings with Eintracht (6 wins) and are currently on a five-game winning streak which has seen them score 13 goals without reply.

The record champions have lost just one of their 32 competitive home games against Frankfurt (W27, D4). Their last defeat to the Eagles in Munich came 15 years ago (2-1 in November 2000).

FCB have been in imperious form at the Allianz Arena this season: The 2-0 loss to Gladbach in their last game there is Bayern's only competitive home defeat in 2014/15 and it came in their 18th fixture (W16, D1).

Frankfurt are without a win in their last seven away games (5 defeats) - they are currently on a three-match losing streak on the road.

Bayern (71 goals, 1st) vs. Frankfurt (51 goals, 3rd) is a meeting between two of the best attacks in the Bundesliga. Eintracht's games have produced 105 goals (51 scored, 54 conceded) - a league high.

FCB have let in just 13 goals in their first 27 games for the third season in a row - no other BL club has ever conceded fewer.

Bayern have kept a clean sheet in 18 of their 27 league matches this season, a new Bundesliga record.

FCB had 49.96% possession in Dortmund (share of passes made) - it's the first time under Guardiola that Bayern's opponents have had more possession than them.

Sebastian Rode spent four years at Eintracht (2010-14) and scored two goals in 61 BL games for them. The Eagles' last goal against Bayern was scored by Rode - in a 1-1 draw in Frankfurt during April 2011.

Now that Arjen Robben (17 goals) has been sidelined with injury, Robert Lewandowski (14), who has scored seven times in his last seven games, is the closest rival to Frankfurt's Alexander Meier (19).

Like Gerd Müller, Lewandowski has scored 14 goals in his first 25 BL games for Bayern - only four FCB players can top that haul: Arjen Robben, Luca Toni, Mario Mandzukic (16 each) and Roy Makaay (20).

FC Schalke 04 - Sport-Club Freiburg

Freiburg have won 12 of their 31 BL games against Schalke (D5, L14) - against no other side have SCF recorded as many top-flight wins. Their tally of 42 goals against the Royal Blues is also Freiburg's best against a particular team in the Bundesliga.

Schalke have won three of their last four home games against Freiburg - the only time SCF have come away with anything from Gelsenkirchen in that timeframe was a 3-1 victory in December 2012.

After a run of three straight defeats against S04, Freiburg won the meeting earlier this season 2-0 at home.

With just 13 points to their name after 10 games in 2015, Schalke are having their worst second half of a season in four years (just 11 points at this stage in 2010/11). Only the league's bottom three have scored fewer goals than the European hopefuls in 2015 (9).

S04 have failed to score in any of their last two games, something that last happened four years ago (January/February 2011). The Royal Blues ended their goal drought back then with a 1-0 home win over Freiburg.

Schalke are now eight points adrift of fourth. No side has made up as big of a gap to the UCL places after 27 matchdays since the three-points-per-win system was introduced.

SCF have won all three of their BL games on matchday 28 under Christian Streich. Freiburg haven't been as successful on any other matchday during the Streich era.

Freiburg haven't conceded a goal in either of their last two games. The last time SCF kept three straight clean sheets was in February 2001 - five in a row back then (club record).

The Breisgau club have lost four of their last five away games, with a 2-0 win in Berlin on matchday 21 the exception. Only HSV (9) have collected fewer points on the road than Freiburg this season (10).

No side has allowed as many shots as Schalke in this campaign (428). Meanwhile, Freiburg have allowed the most shots on target (161).

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is on a 10-game or 918-minute goal drought, his longest in around four years (12 games without a goal between November 2010 and May 2011).
