Chelsea v Man United

Predictions

07 Feb 2016 18:00 Chelsea v Man United

We have one of the biggest games of the Premier League calendar this Sunday as Hiddink's Chelsea take on LVG's Man United. Kick-off at 16:00.

Chelsea v Man United

Chelsea have certainly improved since Gus Hiddink took over the reins from Jose Mourinho after drawing 0-0 with Watford the Blues are now undefeated in 8 matches. Currently Chelsea lie in 13th place on 29 points and they are now 16 points from a Champions League place. Chelsea’s recent home record reads a very mixed W6, D5, L4 and it should be noted that they have drawn their last 3 home games.

When hosting top 6 placed Premier League sides, Chelsea’s record reads a very impressive looking W7, D2, L1 and they can be backed at around 2.10 which looks priced a little low.

The recent head-to-head record at Stamford Bridge certainly favours the home side and reads Chelsea 3 Wins, 1 Draw, and Manchester United 1 Win.

The draw can be backed at around 3.35 and this offers some decent value and should certainly not be discounted.

Having started the season looking like real title challengers Manchester United have now only won 3 of their last 11 Premier league matches. Here they are coming off a 3-0 home victory over Stoke City and this has left Louis van Gaal’s side in 5th place on 40 points, which is now 10 points behind leaders Leicester. Manchester United’s recent away record reads a reasonable looking W6, D4, L5.

When visiting mid table sides, Manchester United’s record reads W5, D1, L4 and they can be backed at around 4.05 and this looks to offer some value. If you do fancy van Gaal’s side to come away undefeated, then they can be backed on the +0.5 handicap at around 1.86.

As far as goals are concerned then the stats suggest that overs is the play. When looking at both sides last 10 respective home and away games to similar opposition. In the 20 matches 10 games have seen 3 goals or more, 6 have seen 2 goals and only 4 matches have seen 1 or less scored. My ratings also suggest value in overs and over 2.0/2.5 goals can be backed at around 2.10.

This looks a very good matchup between 2 sides that have clearly seen better days. Here my ratings suggest value in both the match and goal lines. When looking at the goal line, only 2 of Chelsea’s last 14 home and 2 of United’s last 11 away have seen 1 or less goal scored. With 4 of the last 5 head-to-head matches containing 3 or more goals, there looks some decent risk v reward backing overs on the handicap. For my trade I am turning to the away side who certainly boast a resilient away record. Chelsea have only won 4 home games this season and 3 of these victories came against sides who are now occupying bottom 4 places. The draw looks to offer some decent value and I will keep this on my side. So my recommended trade for this game is Manchester United +0.5 at around 1.85.
