The Manchester City forward has been missing since suffering a hamstring injury while playing for Argentina against Ecuador last month, forcing him out of City's last seven games.
"I do hope I can play in this game," he told City's official website. "I'm doing everything in my power to get to the match in top condition."
Aguero was in red-hot form prior to picking up his injury, scoring a remarkable five goals against Newcastle at the Etihad. He says it was the first time anything like that had happened since he was a young boy.
"Obviously the game against Newcastle was special because it's not every week you get to score five goals in one game.
"The only other occasion I remember scoring five in a single match was when I was 12. I was playing in the pre-youth divisions for Independiente and it was the first important tournament that I'd participated in," he added.
Looking ahead to facing the Reds, Aguero says the arrival of Jurgen Klopp is a bonus not just for Liverpool but for the entire Premier League.
"He has come in and he's a great addition to the Premier League.
"Klopp did a great job at Dortmund and that secured his spot in the Premier League. I'm sure he'll have the time he needs to adapt," said Aguero.
