Bale to miss Netherland friendly: Wales manager Chris Coleman has left Gareth Bale out of his squad for the friendly against Netherlands following "correspondence" with Real Madrid. The star winger will remain in Spain to undergo special training after playing only 45 minutes for Real since October 13. because of a calf injury. Coleman has also suggested Bale will be fit in time for El Clasico on November 21. Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey will also miss the Netherlands match with a hamstring problem.

De Vrij to miss the rest of the season: Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij has been ruled for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his left knee. The 23-year-old sustained the injury in Netherlands' 1-0 EURO 2016 qualification defeat against Iceland on September 3. He then featured for 45 minutes in the 3-0 loss to Turkey three days later, before being forced off yet again. The Dutchman will be sidelined for six months as he recovers from the operation.

Carpi rehire Fabrizio Castori: Serie A strugglers Carpi have dismissed coach Giuseppe Sannino and appointed former boss Fabrizio Castori as his replacement. Castori guided the club to an historic promotion last season but was fired at the end of September, with Carpi having gained two points after the first six matches. Under Sannino, Carpi earned a further four points in five games. It's the third coaching change in Serie A this season, after Roberto Donadoni replaced Delio Rossi at Bologna last week.

Blanc hopeful over Verratti injury: Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has played down fears over the injury suffered by Marco Verratti in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League defeat to Real Madrid. The Italy international hurt his ankle 17 minutes into the Group A fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu and was replaced by Adrien Rabiot prior to Nacho's winner 10 minutes before half-time. "For now, I cannot say if the injury is serious or not serious. But in principle, it appears less serious than we thought," Blanc told reporters.
