AC Milan forward Jeremy Menez has been ruled out until the new year after suffering a setback in his recovery from injury. The 28-year-old has made just one appearance so far this season after being forced to undergo an operation to correct a back problem. "Menez has an infection in the area he was operated on, he is taking antibiotics," said coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. "He will be out until January or February."

Daniel Sturridge will miss Liverpool's Capital One Cup tie with Bournemouth on Wednesday, Jurgen Klopp has revealed. The Liverpool manager, speaking at his pre-match press conference, said: "There's nothing new. Sturridge is getting better but not quick enough to change the situation for us tomorrow." Sturridge is currently working in the gym, according to Klopp, who did not say whether he expects to have the player fit for Saturday's Premier League game at Chelsea.
