Hahn sidelined until 2016: Borussia Monchengladbach winger Andre Hahn will be out of action until next year after suffering a tibial plateau fracture and a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee. The 25-year-old was brought on as a 74th minute substitute in the Foals' 3-1 win over Schalke 04 on Sunday, but was forced off the pitch just six minutes later following a tackle by Johannes Geis, who was shown a straight red card. After receiving treatment on the pitch Hahn was immediately taken to hospital, where it was determined he will undergo corrective surgery on Monday. The club reported that he is not expected to return to first-team duties until after the winter break.
Geis receives 5-match ban: Schalke midfielder Johannes Geis has been given a five-match suspension in all domestic competitions after a challenge that left Borussia Monchengladbach winger Andre Hahn needing surgery. Hahn, 25, suffered a tibial plateau fracture and a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee. Geis, 22, who was sent off for the challenge, will miss the DFB-Pokal match against Monchengladbach as well as Bundesliga games against Ingolstadt, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.
Stevens replaces Gisdol at Hoffenheim: Hoffenheim sacked coach Markus Gisdol and named Huub Stevens as his successor, with the 61-year-old signing a contract until the end of the season. Under Gisdol, Hoffenheim won just one of their opening 10 Bundesliga fixtures, with the 46-year-old leaving the club second bottom after two years in charge. Hoffenheim is the eighth Bundesliga coaching job for Stevens, including two spells at both Schalke and Stuttgart. His contract with Stuttgart was not extended at the end of last term although he managed to steer the club away from relegation.
Albin Ekdal faces long lay-off: Hamburg midfielder Albin Ekdal is expected to be sidelined for three to four months. The Swedish international sustained a serious ankle injury in last weekend's 1-0 Bundesliga victory at Hoffenheim. Ekdal, who joined the German club, from recently-relegated Italian Serie A side Cagliari had played in eight of his side's ten league games so far this season.

Rodrigo Moreno out for 3 months: Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno is set for three months on the sidelines after he has suffered a partial knee ligament tear. Rodrigo limped out of the 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Sunday with 23 minutes played. "As indicated by the tests that have been submitted on Monday, Rodrigo suffered a partial tear in the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee," a Valencia statement read. "The player will follow a conservative treatment. The estimated recovery time is at three months."
Barcelona to appeal for the dismissal of Mascherano: Barcelona will appeal the red card shown to defender Javier Mascherano in Sunday's La Liga game against Eibar for verbally abusing a referee's assistant. Mascherano was dismissed in the 83rd minute of the 3-1 victory at the Nou Camp and the Argentina international could face a ban of up to four matches. Should Barcelona's appeal fail, and depending on the severity of a potential ban, Mascherano could miss El Clasico against Real Madrid on November 21.

Aston Villa target Garde after sacking Sherwood: Aston Villa are searching for their third manager in eight months after Tim Sherwood's dismissal on Sunday, and Remi Garde has emerged as the clear frontrunner. Sherwood was appointed in February and kept the side safe from relegation by three points, as well as reaching the FA Cup final, where they lost 4-0 to Arsenal. However, a 2-1 home defeat by Swansea City on Saturday was Villa's sixth league defeat in a row, which left the club with just one point from nine EPL matches since their opening-day win at Bournemouth. Garde is available after leaving Lyon in 2014 to take a break for personal reasons.
Jagielka ruled out for 2 months: Defender Phil Jagielka could miss up to nine weeks with medial knee ligament damage, Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed. The England international, 33, picked up the injury in the 2-1 loss at Arsenal on Saturday and although Martinez was pleased his knee cartilage and cruciate ligament remain unaffected, the Spaniard could be without his centre-back for the next two months. Jagielka and striker Romelu Lukaku are the only players to have started every game in all competitions this season.
