SERIE A Selections

Predictions

Palermo are coming off a 1-0 victory away at Bologna and this was their 1st win in 5 matches. Previous to this they lost 4 matches on the bounce, including home games to Sassuolo and Roma. Currently Palermo sit in 11th place on 10 points and their recent home record reads an average looking W5, D4, L6.

When hosting teams of Inter’s stature then Palermo’s home record reads a decent looking W3, D3, L4 and they can be backed at around 4.05 and this looks to offer some value. If you do fancy Palermo to do well here then they can be backed on the Asian handicap +0.5 goals at around 1.89.

The recent head-to-head record at the Renzo Barbera Stadium favours the home side and reads Palermo 2 wins, 1 Draw and Inter 1 win.

24 Oct 21:45 Palermo v Inter Milan

Our tipster Pete Nordsted previews the Serie A clash between Palermo and Inter Milan at the Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo. Kick Off 19:45 BST.

Palermo v Inter Milan

The draw can be backed at around 3.50 and this looks to offer some decent value.

After winning their opening 5 matches, Roberto Mancini’s side have now gone 3 league matches without a victory, although they are coming off a decent 0-0 draw at home to Champions Juventus. Currently Inter sit in 3rd place on 17 points and they are now only 1 point behind leaders Fiorentina. Inter's recent away record reads a decent looking W8, D4, L3.

When facing the mid-table sides Inter’s record again reads a very reasonable W4, D4 L2, and they can be backed at around 2.05.  When looking at my ratings this offers no real value.

As far as goals are concerned and when looking at both sides last 10 home and away matches to similar opposition, in the 20 games, 11 matches have seen 3 or more goals and 9 have seen 2 or less.  When looking at Palermo 7 of their last 9 have seen 3 or more goals, and in the case of Inter 9 of their last 12 away games have finished Overs. My ratings suggest value in the Overs which can be backed at around 2.05.

This is a very tricky contest to call and in many ways reflects the openness of this years Serie A campaign. Here my ratings are suggesting some decent value backing the home side on the Handicap. However Palermo have lost 6 of their last 10 home games and Inter have won 5 of their last 7 away. Despite this I would certainly lean to the home side +0.5 goals. For my trade I am turning to the goal line where Palermo’s home games are normally entertaining affairs. In their last 7 home games Palermo have scored at least 2 goals and not won on each occasion. Inter themselves have scored at least 2 goals in 8 of their last 11 away games. There is value in looking for goals and so my recommended trade is Over 2.5 goals at around 2.05.

25 Oct 19:00 Fiorentina v Roma

Sunday evening sees a high profile Serie A match when Fiorentina host Roma at the Artemio Franchi Stadium, Kick Off 17:00 GMT. Pete Nordsted previews.

Fiorentina v Roma

Although Fiorentina are coming off a 1-2 defeat away at Napoli. Under new manager Paulo Sousa they have made an excellent start to the season, where they have won 5 of their last 6 league matches. Currently Fiorentina sit top of the Serie A on 18 points and their recent home record reads a very strong looking W11, D2, L2 and indeed they have won their last 7 home games on the bounce.

When hosting the elite sides of Serie A, Fiorentina boast a reasonably resilient record that reads W2, D5, L3 and Fiorentina can be backed at around 2.55. If you do fancy the league leaders to do well here then you are certainly best keeping the draw on your side and they can be backed on the Asian Handicap +0.0 goals at around 1.84.

The recent head-to-head record at Fiorentina favours the away side and reads Fiorentina 1 win, 2 Draws and Roma 2 wins.

The draw can be backed at around 3.45 and despite Fiorentina’s recent home record to similar opposition it offers no real value.

Roma are also coming into this match in some good form. They have won their last 3 league matches on the bounce and currently they sit in 2nd place on 17 points which is just 1 point behind today’s opposition. Roma are coming off a comfortable 3-1 home win against Empoli and their recent away record reads a decent looking W6, D6, L3.

When facing the second tier sides of Serie A Roma’s record reads W5, D3, L2, and they can be backed at around 2.95.

As far as goals are concerned then the stats point to a low scoring affair. When looking at both sides last 10 home and away games to similar opposition, then we have the following: In the 20 matches 3 or more goals were seen in 7 matches, and 2 or less were seen in 13. My ratings suggest value in Under 2.5 goals which can be backed at around 2.02.

This looks a superb match up in what could be the most open Serie A title chase in years. Looking at my ratings, they are suggesting some decent value in backing Fiorentina. It has to be said that the home side are in very good form, however their form against the top sides, although improving is still not consistent. For my trade I am turning to the goal line. Fiorentina are yet to concede a goal at home this season, and indeed they have kept a clean sheet in their last 6 home games. Here they are coming up against a Roma side who when visiting sides of Fiorentina’s stature have only seen 3 or more goals in 2 of their last 11. So my recommended trade is Under 2.5 goals at around 2.02.
