24 Oct 2015 19:30 Arsenal v Everton
Arsenal are coming into this game in some very good domestic form. They have now won 5 of their last 6 Premier League matches and they have also scored 11 goals in their last 3 matches. Here Arsene Wenger’s side are coming off a comfortable 3-0 victory away at Watford and this victory left the Gunners in 2nd place on 19 points. Arsenal’s recent home record reads a strong looking W10, D3, L2.
When playing teams of Everton’s stature, Arsenal’s record again reads a fairly solid looking W7, D1, L2 and they can be backed at around 1.42. Even at this price Arsene Wenger’s side look to offer value and this price can be improved by backing the Gunners on the -1.0/1.5 goal handicap at around 1.95.
The recent head-to-head record at the Emirates reads Arsenal 3 wins, 2 Draws and Everton 0 wins.
The draw can be backed at around 5.20 and this looks to offer some reasonable value.
After making as very positive start to the season, Everton went down 0-3 at home to Manchester United last weekend, and they have now won just 1 of their last 4 League games. Currently Everton sit in 9th place on 13 points and their recent away record reads an average looking W5, D3, L7.
When facing the elite Premier League elite sides Everton’s away record reads a very poor looking W0, D2, L8 and Everton can be backed at around 7.90. If you do fancy the Toffee’s to do well here then you are certainly better looking to keep the 1 goal loss on your side and they can be backed on the Asian Handicap +1.0/1.5 goals at around 2.00.
As far as goals are concerned, and with the line set at 3 then there looks to be a leaning to the unders. When facing teams of similar opposition in both sides last 10 home and away matches, in the 20 games, 5 have seen 4 or more goals scored, 4 have seen 3 goals and 11 have seen 2 or less scored. My ratings suggest value in Under 3.0 goals which can be backed at around 1.99.
Betting wise this looks a good match up and there looks value in both the match and goal lines. Here the value is with the home side and when looking at Everton’s recent away record to the elite sides it is hard to argue against this. However I am wary that despite Arsenal’s recent good form they have only won 3 of their last 8 home matches. For my trade I am turning to the goal line. Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in 9 of their last 14 home games, and when visiting the elite sides Everton have not found the net in 4 of their last 5 matches. Also only 1 of the last 5 head-to-head matches have seen more than 2 goals scored, and here there is value in the Unders.
So my recommended trade is Under 3.0 goals at around 1.99.
25 Oct 2015 14:00 Sunderland v Newcastle
Our tipster Pete Nordsted previews this Sunday afternoon's Weir-Tyne derby as Sunderland host Newcastle at the Stadium of Light, Kick Off 12:00 GMT.
Sunderland are having a terrible season. Here they are coming off a 0-1 defeat at West Brom, and so far Sunderland are the only side not yet to register a win this season. Sam Allardyce has been brought in and this will be his second game in charge. Currently the Black Cats sit bottom of the table with 3 points, and their recent home record reads a fairly average looking W3, D5, L7.
When hosting teams of Newcastle’s stature, Sunderland’s record reads a resilient looking W2, D5, L3 and Sunderland can be backed at around 2.60. If you do fancy them to do well here then you can keep the draw on your side and they can be backed on the Asian handicap +0.0 goals at around 1.85.
The recent head-to-head record at the Stadium of Light reads Sunderland 2 wins, 2 Draws and Newcastle 1 win. It should also be noted that Sunderland have won the last 5 league meetings between the 2 sides.
The draw can be backed at around 3.43 and despite Sunderland’s home record to similar opposition offers no real value.
Newcastle are also coming into this game in some poor form. Currently they sit in 18th place, 2 places and 3 points above today’s opponents. This is thanks to a very good 6-2 home victory over Norwich City last weekend, which was their 1st win of the season. Newcastle boast a very poor away record which reads W1, D2, L12.
When facing teams of Sunderland’s grade Newcastle’s away record reads again a poor looking W3, D2, L5 and Newcastle can be backed at around 2.90.
As far as goals are concerned then there is certainly a leaning towards unders. When looking at both sides last 10 respective home and away games to similar opposition, 7 games have seen 3 or more goals, and 13 games have seen 2 or less goals scored. Only 6 of Sunderland’s last 15 home games have seen 3 or more goals scored, as have 4 of the last 5 head-to-heads at the Stadium of Light. My ratings suggest value in under 2.5 goals and this can be backed at around 1.92.
This should be an excellent match up and already at this early stage of the season is a must not lose match for both sides. Here my ratings suggest value in both the match and goal lines. With Steve McClaren’s side not finding the net in 8 of their last 10 away games then the value is certainly with under 2.5 goals. Indeed Newcastle have been exceptionally poor away from home of late and here once again Sunderland look the value to take the spoils. I am going to keep the draw on my side and my recommended trade is Sunderland +0.0 goals at around 1.85.
25 Oct 16:00 Man Utd v Man City
Sunday afternoon sees one of the games of the season as Man Utd host Man City at Old Trafford. Pete Nordsted previews the game. Kick off 14:05 GMT
Manchester United bounced back from a 0-3 defeat at Arsenal by beating Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park last weekend. This victory sent Louis van Gaal’s side up to 3rd place on 19 points and they are now just 2 points behind their near neighbours. Manchester United’s recent home record reads an impressive looking W11, D2, L2.
When playing the Premier Leagues elite sides, Manchester United’s record reads a very mixed W3, D3, L4, and United can be backed at around 2.65. If you do fancy them to do well here then I would certainly look to keep the draw on side and United can be backed +0.0 goals at around 1.92.
The recent head-to-head record at Old Trafford reads Manchester United 2 wins, 0 draws and Manchester City 3 wins. It should also be noted that City have won 6 of the last 8 League meetings.
The draw can be backed at around 3.50 and this looks to offer some value.
After losing at Spurs and at home to West Ham, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have come back in great style beating Newcastle 6-1 and Bournemouth 5-1. This has sent City to the top of the table and their recent away record reads a good looking W8, D2, L5.
When playing the elite of the Premier League then City’s away record is average and reads W2, D4, L4 and City can be backed at around 2.80.
When looking at the goal line it suggests an entertaining affair. 9 of Manchester United’s last 15 home games and 7 of City’s last 11 away have seen 3 or more goals scored. However, when looking at both sides last 10 home and away games to similar opposition 3 or more goals have been seen in 9 matches, with 11 containing 2 or less. Here my ratings suggest value in Over 2.5 goals which can be backed at around 1.92.
This should be a superb derby game and here my ratings suggest value in both the match and the goal line. When looking at the goal line my ratings suggest value in the Overs, and in what is traditionally an entertaining affair, the last 6 head-to-head matches at Old Trafford have seen 3 or more goals scored.
For my trade I am going to side with Manchester United. Here they are coming up against a City side who themselves have won 5 of their last 6 away matches. However my ratings are suggesting that the value lies with the home who have an outstanding home record under Louis van Gaal, that after 23 matches this reads W17, D3, L3. The draw priced around 3.50 also has to be given some very serious consideration. I will keep this on my side, and my recommended trade for this game is Manchester United +0.0 goals at around 1.92.
25 Oct 2015 18:00 Liverpool v Southampton
Pete Nordsted previews Sunday afternoon's Premier League clash between Liverpool and Southampton at Anfield. Kick off 16:15 GMT.
Liverpool are having a fairly average season, and new manager Jurgen Klopp got underway with a battling 0-0 draw away at Spurs last weekend. Currently Liverpool sit in 10th place on 13 points and they are 4 points behind 4th place West Ham. Liverpool boast a fairly strong home record and this reads W9, D3, L3.
When hosting teams of Southampton’s stature, Liverpool again boast a very strong record that reads W7, D3, L0 and they can be backed at around 2.02.
The recent head-to-head matches certainly favours the home side and reads Liverpool 3 wins, 1 Draw and Southampton 0 wins.
The draw can be backed at around 3.55 and this looks to offer some value.
Southampton are once again having a decent season. So far after 9 matches, they like their opponents sit on 13 points, and the Saints have only lost 2 matches this season. Southampton’s recent away record reads W5, D4, L6 and it should be noted that Southampton are undefeated away from home this season.
When facing the 2nd tier sides of the Premier League Ronald Koeman’s side boast a very poor record that reads W0, D1, L9. Here the Saints can be backed at around 4.15. If you do fancy them to come away undefeated then Southampton can be backed on the Asian Handicap +0.5 goals at around 1.92
As far as goals are concerned then the stats are very mixed. When looking at both sides last 10 respective home and away matches to similar opposition, in the 20 matches we have the following. 10 games have seen 3 or more goals, whilst 10 have seen 2 or less. When looking at Liverpool 10 of their last 15 home games have seen 3 or more goals, and in the case of Southampton under 2.5 goals have been seen in 9 of their last 14 away games. Here my ratings suggest some small value in under 2.5 goals.
This looks as though it will be a good match up between 2 sides that both have European qualification aspirations. Here my ratings suggest value on under 2.5 goals, however the stats presented are very mixed. For my trade I am turning to the match line, where although there is no question Southampton are very resilient away from home (as was demonstrated by their recent victory at Champions Chelsea), when visiting sides of Liverpool’s stature their form is poor.
Since entering the Premier League in 2012. Southampton have visited the Top 2 tier sides on 21 occasions and their record reads W3, D3, L15. Liverpool seem to raise their game when playing teams around them and since 2010 their record against these sides reads W10, D4, L1. So my recommended trade for this game is Liverpool -0.5 goals at around 2.04.
