Injury blows for ... Liverpool
Liverpool are again sweating on the fitness of key striker Daniel Sturridge after he missed Saturday's clash at Spurs through injury. Sturridge was expected to be named in new boss Jurgen Klopp's first line-up at White Hart Lane but the England striker was omitted with a knee injury. It is thought the injury is not too serious, with reports suggesting it was only a knock, but the Reds will not be taking any risks with the 26-year-old who has had a succession of setbacks over the past 12 months.
Liverpool have suffered yet another injury blow, their third within a span of two days, after Jordan Rossiter returned from England U19 duty with a hamstring injury. The Merseyside club have already lost Danny Ings and Joe Gomez, who are both ruled out for the rest of the season with anterior cruciate ligament damage.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are furious with the Football Association for the way they handled the situation with the player. The club believes that the injury is due to the midfielder being played for 90 minutes in three games in just five days during the England U19's Euro 2016 qualifying event.
and for ... Tottenham
Nacer Chadli went down with what looked like a serious ankle injury in the early minutes of Tottenham Hotspur's draw against Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Saturday. Chadli's injury would be yet another blow to Spurs' midfield, which has been decimated this season. The good news is that Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb appear close to returning to fitness.
