Ings out for the rest of the season: Liverpool have been handed another injury setback as striker Danny Ings has suffered a knee injury that will keep him out for the season. The 23-year-old twisted his knee during his first training session with new Reds manager Jurgen Klopp and resulting tests have shown he has broken his cruciate ligaments. The news comes at a time when another Red, Joe Gomez, was confirmed by Klopp earlier today to be out of action for a considerable period of time due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. It has been the worst imaginable start for Klopp in Liverpool with two summer signings ruled out for the season before his bow for the club.

Son is still on hold: Tottenham forward Son Heung-Min will miss Saturday's Premier League clash with Liverpool and could be sidelined for several more weeks. Son came off with a foot injury in Tottenham's win over Manchester City three weeks ago, but manager Mauricio Pochettino had hoped the Korea Republic star would recover over the international break. However, the problem is taking longer than expected and Son's absence leaves Pochettino short of options up front, with Harry Kane Tottenham's only other senior centre forward.

Out for about a month: Southampton's Shane Long is out for "two to four weeks" with the ankle injury he suffered while playing for the Republic of Ireland on Sunday. Long limped off after 55 minutes of the Euro 2016 qualifier, a 2-1 defeat against Poland in Warsaw, and is out until November. Saints boss Ronald Koeman said: "The only injury we've got [during the international break] is Shane Long's ankle ligaments. We expect he'll be out for two to four weeks. That's a disappointment but a part of football."
