Vincent Kompany is set to start Belgium's final Euro 2016 qualifier at home to Israel even though Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini claimed that the 30-year-old defender was not fit to play after missing his club's last five games with a calf injury. However, Belgium coach Marc Wilmots insists that Kompany has proved his fitness and will face Israel in a game his team must win to move to No 1 in FIFA's world rankings and, more importantly, have a chance of being in UEFA's top-six seeds ahead of the Euro 2016 draw in December.
