GLADBACH
The German team is the underdog of this group and tonight it is hosting Manchester City in a crucial game for the future of each of these 2 teams into the competition. Gladbach has suffered 5 defeats in its first 5 games in the league and a 3-0 away defeat from Seville in its first game in the group but the truth is that it is performing a lot better over the last couple of weeks. Under the guidance of its new head coach, Andre Schubert, Gladbach has managed 2 consecutive wins in the league, beating Stuttgart with 1-2 away from home and Augsburg with 4-2 at home.
Gladbach will be missing the services of the defender Martin Stranzl and probably the services of Tony Jantschke who is also a defender. In general, the defensive performance of the team in this season has been quite mediocre and these 2 absences pose a problematic situation for Schubert.
MANCHESTER CITY
Contrary to Gladbach's performance this season, City has had an impressive start into the league but it has suffered 2 defeats in its last 2 games, from West Ham at home with 1-2 and from Tottenham away from home with 4-1 despite the fact that in the last game it had taken the lead. It should also be mentioned that it has suffered a 1-2 home defeat from Juventus in its first game in the group.
As such, the atmosphere is not ideal and the absence of its captain Vincent Kompany from tonight's game couldn't come at a worst time. Toure and Silva may make it into the starting eleven.
It is worth mentioning that Manchester City is coming from 4 consecutive goal/goal & over 2.5 goals games.
