Chelsea v Arsenal has always been an interesting whether or not something interesting was happening on the football pitch. This year’s derby at Stamford Bridge sees Petr Cech returning as an opponent at a time when his old team needs the win more than anything.
Chelsea’s start to the season has been bad and although Arsenal have done better, they still are not above average in their performances. However, their Champions League starts have been different, with the Blues smashing Maccabi Tel Aviv (4-0) and the Gunners losing away to Dinamo Zagreb (2-1).
One of the many interesting aspects of this derby, at least of late, has been the rivalry between the two managers. Arsene Wenger has not had a good record against Jose Mourinho. In fact, his only victory against the Portuguese came at this year’s Community Shield, after 13 games without one.
The stakes are high, but who will (if anyone) emerge victorious?
