Coutinho should be ready for Southampton: Jurgen Klopp expects Philippe Coutinho to return from injury to face Southampton in the Capital One Cup in midweek. Coutinho suffered a hamstring injury in a match-winning performance against Manchester City last week, forcing him to miss the Europa League clash with Bordeaux the following Thursday. The Brazilian sat out the victory over Swansea on Sunday as a precaution, but Klopp believes Coutinho will be available to return against Southampton on Wednesday.
Everton could lose McCarthy and Barry: Everton could be without their first-choice central midfield for Tuesday's Capital One Cup quarter-final at Middlesbrough, with James McCarthy and Gareth Barry injured in the Premier League draw against Bournemouth. McCarthy was withdrawn in the second half of Saturday's 3-3 draw and Barry played on with a shin problem that has not alleviated. The influential pair are major doubts for the League Cup game and Tom Cleverley and Darron Gibson, who have only recently returned from injuries, could deputise for Roberto Martinez's side.
Aguero eases injury fears: Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has played down fears he is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines, after the 27-year-old was withdrawn after 63 minutes in his side's 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday. Aguero later used Twitter to confirm his injury was minor, while reports on Monday suggested he would be out for around 10 days. Aguero, whose prolific goalscoring exploits over recent seasons have been interspersed with regular injury lay-offs, recently returned to action following six weeks out with a hamstring problem.
Sakho facing 3 months out: West Ham fear Diafra Sakho will be out for up to three months after picking a thigh injury in Sunday's match with West Brom. The Irons have been boosted however, by the news that Enner Valencia could be back for their Christmas programme. Sakho pulled up with 17 minutes of the 1-1 draw left and now faces a scan this week to determine the exact length of time he will be out. Club sources are hoping it is not worse than the initial estimates, but it is understood the affected area is too badly swollen to be scanned as yet.

Tiago out for 4 months with broken leg: Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago Mendes has left the hospital in a wheelchair after having a pin inserted into his broken right tibia and will be sidelined for around four months. The Portugal midfielder, ever-present in the Liga and UEFA Champions League this season, suffered the blow in a challenge with Marco Asensio. The 34-year-old has been a key player for Atletico over the last seven seasons, helping them win the 2014 Spanish league title among other trophies.
