Double injury blow for Chelsea: Jose Mourinho blamed the poor pitch at Haifa's Sammy Ofer Stadium for the ankle injury to John Terry which is expected to see the Chelsea captain ruled out of Sunday's Premier League clash at Tottenham. "The surface was bad and dangerous," Mourinho said. "John has an ankle problem that we don't know yet the dimension of.
Ramires was not in the matchday squad after suffering an injury in training on Monday, when Chelsea tried to minimise their time on the pitch. "Yesterday we tried to protect (the pitch), we trained just a little bit. But by my surprise Maccabi were training after us, plus the warm-up before the game," Mourinho said." The pitch was really bad. Ramires slid and had a muscular injury."
Silva, Bony could face Southampton: Manchester City hope their injury crisis will ease with David Silva and Wilfried Bony in contention to make comebacks against Southampton on Saturday. Striker Bony suffered a hamstring injury against Aston Villa in November while midfielder Silva has already sat out eight games with the ankle problem he sustained in October. Manager Manuel Pellegrinie is without six injured players, plus ineligible forward Kelechi Iheanacho, for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Juventus in Italy.
Skrtel a doubt, Sturridge could start: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested Daniel Sturridge could make his long-awaited comeback in Thursday's Europa League game against Bordeaux. Sturridge has not yet featured for Klopp since the German's arrival at Anfield due to a knee injury, but was named among the substitutes for Saturday's stunning 4-1 win at Manchester City. Klopp has also revealed that defender Martin Skrtel has the flu and is likely to be rested for Thursday's match at Anfield.
Hart picks hamstring injury: Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is worried about goalkeeper Joe Hart, who limped off the field during their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Juventus. With just eight minutes left in the fixture, Hart was forced off with a suspected hamstring problem. The England international is set to undergo tests in order to assess the extent of his injury.
"It is impossible to know how serious Hart's injury is. He has a problem with his hamstring. He has been carrying a problem in his back for the week," Pellegrini said. "We hope not to lose him. But for if for some reason he cannot play I have trust in Willy (Caballero)."
Wenger reluctant to rest Sanchez despite injury: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to rest Alexis Sanchez, despite admitting the forward has had a slight hamstring problem. The 26-year-old, who played the full ninety minutes of Arsenal's Champions League victory against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night, has been complaining of a muscle problem over the last couple of days. "Alexis had a little hamstring alarm. I will assess that later," Wenger said at a news conference. "But it might not be the right time to rest him."

Varane forced off: Raphael Varane was forced off with a hamstring injury in Real Madrid's Champions League win at Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday evening. The France international lasted just 33 minutes before being replaced by Danilo. Madrid are already without Sergio Ramos, who required a pain-killing injection on a shoulder injury prior to Saturday's defeat at the hands of Barcelona.
Scotland
Scott Brown facing 3 months out: Celtic captain Scott Brown is facing up to three months out with a knee injury. The midfielder returned for Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to Kilmarnock after missing four matches but was hurt late in the game. Midfielders Stefan Johansen and Nir Bitton are suspended for the crucial Europa League clash with Ajax, while fellow midfielder Kris Commons is likely to miss out again with a combination of a hamstring injury and illness. Charlie Mulgrew has recovered from the thigh injury which has kept him out since September.
