England

Carrick injured in England loss: Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick looks set for another long injury lay-off after suffering suspected ankle ligament damage during England's 2-0 defeat to Spain. He was carried off on a stretcher in the final minute after twisting his right ankle. Carrick will fly back to England on Saturday and will not play against France on Tuesday, should the match go ahead following the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris.

"Michael Carrick doesn't look good," England manager Roy Hodgson said. "He's got a severely twisted ankle which normally means ligament damage. We won't know that of course until he's had an X-ray or a scan tomorrow, but it doesn't look good."

Germany

Thiago hurts right knee: Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has withdrawn from Spain's squad for Tuesday's friendly against Belgium after injuring his troublesome right knee in Friday's game against England. Thiago was forced off midway through the first half of the 2-0 friendly victory in Alicante and a scan on Saturday showed swelling on the medial collateral ligament.

The playmaker's career has been disrupted by a series of knee and ankle problems and he missed last year's World Cup finals in Brazil after needing surgery to repair ligament damage in his right knee. Bayern will hope the influential midfielder is not set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines after the setback.

Euro 2016

Van Dijk and Bazoer pull out of Holland squad: Netherlands will have to make do without the services of Virgil van Dijk and Riechedly Bazoer in Tuesday's international friendly against Germany. The Dutch Football Association has announced the duo picked up injuries in Friday's 3-2 win over Wales. "Riechedly Bazoer (hamstring injury) and Virgil van Dijk (knee problems) have left Oranje's training camp in Cardiff," read a tweet from the KNVB. The Dutch lost Jairo Riedewald and Davy Klaassen to injury in the build-up to the match against Wales.
