Isco picks up an injury: Injury will see Real Madrid playmaker Isco miss Spain's friendly with England this week. A statement from the Spanish football federation read: "The midfielder carried out an individual training session, separate from the team, due to the discomfort felt upon arriving to the practice. This morning, after undergoing several medical tests at the Sanitas-La Moraleja hospital and after analyzing the results, and sharing them with his club, Isco has left the national team meet-up."

Mertens sidelined for a month: Napoli winger Dries Mertens is expected to be sidelined for a period of four to five weeks after suffering a muscle strain while on international duty with Belgium. "Dries will stay with the squad but he won't play," announced Belgium coach Marc Wilmots to reporters. "He told us that something was bothering him as soon as he arrived from Napoli." Mertens will have to wait and see what diagnosis he is proscribed by the Red Devils' medical staff, but early estimates state that he will likely miss a month.
Padoin to miss three weeks: Simone Padoin has been ruled out of action for three weeks after suffering a thigh strain. The 31-year-old was hurt during Juventus' 3-1 win over Empoli on Sunday after coming off the substitutes' bench in the closing stages. Padoin has made six Serie A appearances this season. Hed is now set to be unavailable for crucial upcoming games against Milan, Manchester City and Palermo after the international break.
Balotelli to undergo surgery: Striker Mario Balotelli is expected to be out of action up until 2016 after reports emerged that the Italian is set to go for surgery. The controversial forward has been on the injured list since mid September, making just four appearances for his loan club AC Milan. Balotelli went to see a specialist in Denmark, who confirmed that his niggling groin problem was in fact a hernia and has recommended that the striker go under the knife. According to the Liverpool Echo, the medical staff at Liverpool have been in close contact with the Milan medics, with both sides believed to be in agreement about the surgery.

Valencia undergoes surgery: Manchester United have confirmed Antonio Valencia has undergone foot surgery. The Ecuadorian hasn't featured since sustaining the injury in the derby against City last month. In two pictures posted on Valencia's official Twitter page, he shows his left leg in bandages, with crutches by the side of his bed. No return date has been confirmed for the 30-year-old, meaning it is unclear for how long Louis van Gaal will have to make do without his services.

El Hassnaoui suffers injury setback: Hearts forward Soufian El Hassnaoui has suffered another injury setback. The Dutch-Moroccan was due back from a torn cruciate ligament this month but his return has been delayed by a groin problem. He missed a large part of last season due to ankle and groin injuries and then tore his posterior cruciate ligament in a friendly against Preston in July, which sidelined him for four months. El Hassnaoui, 26, should resume training next week in the hope of finally overcoming his injury troubles.

Millner pulls out of England squad: England have been dealt an injury blow ahead of their friendlies against Spain and France, with James Milner pulling out of the squad. The Liverpool midfielder has failed to shake off a hamstring injury suffered in their UEFA Europa League win over Rubin Kazan last week. The 29-year-old, who has 57 caps, missed Liverpool's 2-1 EPL defeat by Crystal Palace on Sunday. His absence increases Tottenham pair Dele Alli and Eric Dier's chances of making a first international start.
Long ruled out of crunch Ireland game: Shane Long will miss the first leg of the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday. The striker's ankle injury will not heal in time for the trip to Zenica, but he has not yet been ruled out of the return leg at the Aviva Stadium on Monday. Also out on Friday is goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, who aggravated an ankle injury in training on Wednesday and has been replaced in the squad by Charlton's Stephen Henderson.
